We will gladly assist you with any questions
you may have regarding shipping your belongings overseas.
Often, it is difficult to decide what to bring
and what to leave behind. By giving us the dimensions of the item
in question, we can tell you its total cubic feet and approximately how
much you will be paying to ship it.
How to pack these items can also be a concern.
We have listed a number of Packing
Tips for your reference. Feel free to contact us if you are
wondering which items should be broken down, set aside for the professionals,
etc.
Another dilemma often encountered is which
appliances to take with, which to purchase here and which to purchase overseas.
The answer to these questions is dependent upon several factors:
-
First you need to check what voltage the country
you are shipping to runs on. If it is 110 Volt, as we use here in
the U.S., you should be able to use all your current appliances.
Check the Hertz as well to make sure it is the same used here in the U.S.
-
If 220/240 is used, several options are available.
Transformers can be purchased here or overseas. We offer transformers
ranging from 100 to 2500 Watts. Certain appliances such as washing machines
are difficult to convert because of the hertz of the electrical current,
transformers do not change the hertz of an appliance. While transformers
may seem to be the simplest and most economical option, it is important
to keep in mind that transformers do slightly reduce the lifespan of the
appliances running off them. Also, only one appliance at a time may
run off the transformer.
-
For smaller appliances, such as hair dryers and
toasters, it is definitely more economical and convenient to purchase new
ones.
-
Finally, if you decide you will need to purchase
new larger appliances such as refrigerators, dishwashers and dryers, where
to purchase them will depend upon their cost in the country you are shipping
to versus their cost here in the U.S. We offer a wide variety of quality
name brand 220V appliances at reasonable prices.
If we happen not to carry the appliance you had in mind, we will do our
best to locate it and order it for you.
We offer free estimates over the phone or
at your residence if you're within the Chicagoland area. By estimating
the total cubic feet of your shipment, we can determine which shipping
method will be most economical for you, whether it is crating your belongings
or loading them directly into your own container.
